Performed AC diagnostic on 20-year-old Package unit. Upon my diagnostic I found that the system was not powered although 240 V was present. Upon further inspection found that the circuit board had multiple burns front and back of the board And was supplying 24 V intermittently. Once contactor pulled in compressor and fan will turn on although compressor will go on to thermal overload due to windings overheating. Was not able to check refrigerant pressures the customer stated that he had an HVAC technician friend come over and tell him that there is Solder points that are cracked which could entail and leak cannot be for sure until system is fully operational and pressures are able to be checked. Recommended replacing circuitboard first and starting there and seeing what comes next this can be a costly process.
